For the past 5+ years, I worked for Quest Software and, after an acquisition, Dell Software. It’s been an honor and a privilege to meet and work with so many intelligent, talented, and fun people! But today, it was time to turn the page. Today it was time to say, “So long and thanks for all the fish.” [1]
I am grateful for the opportunity I had at Quest/Dell to do forward-looking R&D in areas I find both interesting and challenging–enterprise application integration (EAI), ontology-driven platform services, automated asset classification, knowledge event detection, semantic analysis and inferencing, and more. And I am especially grateful to have worked with some of the smartest software engineers I’ve ever known. We learned a lot along the way, and we built some pretty darn cool platform technologies!
But, I’ve spent most of my career as a startup entrepreneur and a confluence of recent events–both within Dell and without–have drawn me back into that mode. I won’t go into details here about what’s next (but I will soon) other than to say I’m very excited about it.
Tonight, I just want to say, “Thank you” to all the folks at Quest Software and Dell Software that helped make the past five years such a great ride! It was great working (and having fun) along side you. I won’t say good-bye, but rather so long. And, thanks for all the fish.
